Castellar del Vallés, 2024

Partial renovation project in a single-family house in Castellar del Vallés. For this construction of approximately 35-40 years old, we sought to create a spacious and bright space, but above all, open it to help promote family coexistence. To achieve this goal, walls were knocked down to open the kitchen to the dining room and place in its place, an iisland was designed at two heights: one as a cooking surface and the other as a dining table. This island is framed by a thin hood that hangs from the ceiling by means of a fine structure and extends horizontally to the ends of the countertop.

In addition to having the central island as an iconic element, another piece of furniture that stands out is the breakfast cabinet with retractable doors, which includes a top and back of the same ceramic used in the countertop of the rest of the kitchen.

We painted the room in white to give more light and changed the floor in the kitchen area for a gray ceramic, creating a contrast with the parquet of the rest of the space. In terms of lighting, we have generated a uniform atmosphere, accentuating only the highlights of the kitchen such as the sink and cooktop area.

In general, the island layout and the furniture of this project provide a lot of functionality, comfort and, above all, a space in which the whole family will spend great moments.
